Officer. Heslop began his public service with a stint in the
United States Army from 1991-1995, where he operated as a
Fire Support Specialist, attended Ranger School, Airborne School,
Air Assault School and completed successful deployments to assist “Operation Uphold Democracy” in Haiti. Officer Heslop then continued to serve with the Ohio Army National Guard as a crew chief for the 107th Medivac Company from 1995-1997.
After the military, Heslop joined the Canton Police Department in 1998 where he began in patrol, later moving into the K-9 Unit as a handler focusing on Patrol/Explosives Detection.

Officer Heslop serves as President & Director of Training for the
Police K-9 Association (PK9A), which is a a successful 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that serves 50 active & retired K-9 teams throughout Ohio with weekly training, medical, education and equipment.
